VETERANS UNITED: MAKE IT MEAN MORE
On Veterans Day, social media overflows with “Thank you for your service” posts. And while those words aren’t without meaning, we thought we make them mean more. So with Veterans United, the nation’s largest VA home purchase loan provider, we set out to turn those sometimes empty words into meaningful action.
On Veterans Day, every time someone tweeted “Thank you for your service,” Veterans United contributed $25 to paying off a veteran's mortgage. We then surprised those veterans live on Zoom with celebrities and notable wounded warriors delivering the good news. The 90,943 tweets that day led to more than $2.2million in contributions, fully paying off the mortgages of 11 deserving veterans.
The campaign received 266 media placements across 128 markets, including 175 broadcast stories, all generating an audience reach of 262M, along with 84K social shares. Coverage included PEOPLE, Military.com and NBC Nightly News. And since the stories we shared were so powerful, this campaign was still being talked about in major media markets two weeks after Veterans Day.
