PERSONAL INK (P.INK)

After a mastectomy, many breast cancer survivors are left with scars and often, no nipples, which is a problem that reconstructive surgery cannot always solve. P.INK was created to educate post-mastectomy patients about tattoos as an alternative healing option and empower them to take creative control of their post-op bodies. I am proud to have helped launch and grow this unconventional social impact platform that has positively affected many lives.

In our second year of operation, we launched P.INK Day at a small tattoo shop in Brooklyn, during which 10 of the country’s top artists inked scar-coverage or nipple-replacement tattoos on 10 breast cancer survivors. Now every October, tattoo studios in more than 12 North American cities close their doors for a day of curated healing experiences for survivors.

A grassroots effort with no paid media support, P.INK earned more than a billion media impressions around the world, including Associated Press, TODAY, Oprah, Huffington Post, USA Today, Fast Company, MTV, and The New York Times.
